Press release: Holiday spending spree - UK adults set to spend over £27bn on summer getaways

**26 June 2013 **

The latest Money Advice Service research reveals that holiday-makers estimate they will have to spend on average £1,027.72 per person to go on a summer holiday. Collectively this equates to around £27bn across the UK adult population.

The findings, which are published as the Service launches its new Summer Cost Calculator , reveal that over half (54%) of UK adults (about 27m people) plan to take a summer holiday in 2013.

But just under a third (31% - around 15m people) do not plan to go on a summer holiday this year. Over half (56%) of this group (so about 8.5m people) say cost is biggest factor preventing them from getting away.
