Press release: Managing money – showcase event
4 June 2010
The half a million people with autism in the UK have a greater chance of achieving financial independence thanks to ‘Managing Money’, our new project developed with The National Autistic Society (NAS) which was launched on 27 May.
Amongst the results, the evaluation found that 88% of student money advisers said Money Doctors had helped them deliver a more proactive service. 63% of students said they have taken, or plan to take, action as a result of a Money Doctor session. 30% of students who had visited their Money Doctor said this had actually helped them ‘afford to stay at university’.
This online resource has been developed in consultation with people with autism and provides impartial information, guidance, interactive quizzes and video content to help them develop their knowledge and confidence in managing their money and financial decision-making. It can be used at home or in educational settings and a free hard copy workbook is also available.
