Media comment: Money Advice Service responds to report by Money Advice Trust: A Decade in Debt

Craig Simmons, Debt Sector Coordination Manager at the Money Advice Service, commented:

“We know from our own research that people’s relationship with and experience of debt is increasingly complex and so we, with our delivery partners throughout the UK, have to make sure we are adapting how we provide debt advice services to meet these changing needs. Several of the largest debt advice charities and creditors have recently supported a new target operating model for the debt advice sector, which strives for enhanced routing into advice, greater collaboration between agencies and increased consistency in advice giving. It’s essential that a broader range of agencies work with us to take forward these proposals, particularly creditors, whether that’s local authorities, businesses, utility companies or central Government. Our creditor toolkit is a great place to start.”
