Media comment: Scottish Government - investing in junior savers

Monday 26 September 2016

Speaking about announcement from Scottish Government on investing in junior savers, Allison Barnes, Scotland Manager for the Money Advice Service, said:

“We welcome today’s announcement and the positive impact it will have on encouraging young people to save. We know that instilling positive savings habits in children from a young age can have significant benefits in terms of their financial security and how they manage their money in later life. Starting to build a savings habit, even at a small scale and from a young age, shows a healthy approach to money management and working with schools and credit unions to raise awareness among young people is a positive step in safeguarding our children’s financial futures.”
