Money Advice Service invites you to celebrate Financial Capability Week 2017

Thursday 14 September: Today, the Money Advice Service is proud to announce the date of this year’s Financial Capability Weekopens in new window 2017. The Week will take place on 13 - 19 November and aims to celebrate, showcase and amplify the work underway to improve financial capability and wellbeing through a series of events on why it matters and how to improve it.

The Week is organised as part of the Financial Capability Strategy for the UK and aims to get more people to #TalkMoney. This year’s Week is slightly different to last in that it is an opportunity for organisations to take part in a bigger movement for change; to share their ambitions and leadership, to showcase their insight and ideas; and to demonstrate their commitment to engaging and empowering people to make the most of their money.

Helen White, Head of Financial Capability and Strategic Alliances for the Money Advice Service said: “We are delighted to invite organisations to play a key role in this year’s Financial Capability Week. Levels of financial capability across the UK remain stubbornly low with four in ten adults reported to have less than £500 in savings and one in five not able to read a bank statement. The Week is a time to discuss this complex problem and how we can work collectively for change.”

Throughout the Week new research, case studies and blogs will be shared to encourage everyone to engage with their money.

FinCap Week is for any organisation that works to help people make the most of their money, or who wants to start getting involved.
